Dr. Kristina McGinnis is from a small town outside of Charlotte, North Carolina. She grew up playing soccer and basketball and attending all of the Carolina Panthers home games. Dr. McGinnis completed her undergraduate studies at North Carolina State University where she majored in Animal Science and minored in Genetics. She graduated valedictorian in 2011 and continued her education at NCSU College of Veterinary Medicine. During veterinary school, Dr. McGinnis took a special interest in ophthalmology, internal medicine, and integrative medicine.
After graduation from veterinary school in 2015, Dr. McGinnis completed a year long equine internship at a specialty hospital in Dover, NH. She then attended Options for Animals College of Chiropractic where she gained certification with the International Veterinary Chiropractic Association. Dr. McGinnis also attended the Chi Institute of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (now Chi University) where she became a certified veterinary acupuncturist and certified veterinary tuina practitioner.
Dr. McGinnis has worked in both large and small animal medicine and with that brings a diverse skill set. In her free time, Dr. McGinnis enjoys sunrises on the beach with her Boxer, Reilly, riding her horse, Sevyn, and taking Pure Barre classes.
